Caviezel started his screen acting career in 1991 with his appearance in the film “My Own Private Idaho,”; a film that earned him a Screen Actors Guild award. Before making his film debut, he started on stage in several plays. In 1994, he portrayed Warren Earp in the biography film “Wyatt Earp.” In 1997, he accepted a role in “G.I. Jane” after making several appearances in the television series: Murder, She Wrote and The Wonder Years. In 1998, he received his breakthrough in the Terrence Malick-directed World War II film “The Thin Red Line.” 

In 2004, Jim Caviezel took on a very historic role in Mel Gibson’s film “The Passion of the Christ.” He was reportedly struck by lightning, accidentally hit, had his shoulder dislocated, and suffered from pneumonia and hypothermia while filming.
